Hello green tea lovers! We are on the same boat if green tea is your preference as a drink to combat your sugar craving or the drink that helping you to lose weight.

As I shared earlier in my previous entry the best weight loss teas, and green tea is one of it, so let's see the benefits of green tea that we should know.


Green tea improves metabolism

Green tea has polyphenols like flavonoids and catechins which function as antioxidants. It helos boost the metabolic rate and increase fat burning, hence helping in weight loss. The caffeine in green tea also helps fat oxidation.


Green tea helps brain function

Green tea has the amino acid L-theanine that increases the production of alpha waves in the brain. Studies show that the caffeine and L-theanine together help improve brain function. They help reduce anxiety and stress. 


Green tea has antioxidants

As green tea is an excellent source of antioxidants, it helps lower risks of various types of cancer, such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, etc.


Green tea helps in reducing risk of neurodegenerative diseases

The catechin compounds in the green tea help lower risk of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.


Green tea helps in reducing risk of Type II Diabetes

Green tea may also help lower the risk of Type II diabetes. Studies have shown that green tea is able to decrease the fasting glucose.

I have diabetes genes from my mom's side. My mom has been a diabetes patient for more than 20 years. And she was on insulin since two years ago. And both my elder brothers also diagnose with Type II Diabetes.

The reason why I always want to control my sugar craving is because I do not want to inherit this. It is ok to drink plain water, or tasteless water rather than to have diabetes. I just cannot stand to see my mom to get her pills and it hurts to see her fighting with diabetes.

I have GDM during my 2 pregnancies, and the doctor said since I have diabetes genes, I need to really care about what I eat and drink and ensure to have a healthy diet otherwise I'll probably end up having diabetes as well just like my mom and my two brothers.


Green tea helps in reducing risk of cardiovascular diseases

Green tea can help lower the total and LDL cholesterol, thereby helping reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke


Green tea helps in reducing bad breath

The catechins in green tea also have benefits for oral health.

The catechins in green tea may inhibit the growth of bacteria in the mouth, reducing the risk of bad breath.

But do not depends with green tea for your oral health, make sure you brush your teeth twice daily and visit your dentist yearly.

    1. saya ni suka semua jenis teh, kecuali teh herba yg rasanya terlalu kuat.
      tapi green tea ni yg paling fav.
      dalam dua minggu konsisten minum green tea, dapat kawal sugar craving saya.
